When-then & if-then statements show children what will happen when they make certain choices. An if-then statement lets your child make a choice about what they need so they can focus. You can use when-then statements to teach your child how reading time should look. For example, "When you look at the pages, it is easier to understand what's happening." You can also use when-then statements to show your child how their behaviors impact you. For example, "When we read together, it makes me happy."
Remember that when-then & if-then statements are most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
