Strategic attention lets your child know what you like. Distraction when reading is completely normal, even for adults. Remember that activity level and distractibility are areas of temperament. Try not to point out your child's distraction or criticize them. Instead, use your redirect and modeling skills. Then give your child lots of positive attention when they are calm and focused.
Remember that strategic attention is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
