Using recovery for
Recognize the behavior:
Throws a ball at a child on the playground.
Identify what you want to see:
Playing nicely with other kids.
Use the Skill:
After the consequence, use your own calming skills. Then spend some time in calm or fun play until your child can talk about what happened.

Purpose:

Recovery helps you and your child stay calm and build a strong relationship. If your child was angry enough to physically hurt another child, they probably need some time to calm down. You will probably also feel angry. First calm yourself down. Then use recovery to help your child calm down.
Remember that recovery is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
