Adjust the environment to prevent a tantrum and help your child stay calm. Are they sensitive to noise or lights? If so, try noise cancelling headphones in loud places and keeping sounds low at home. Or, remove toys with bright flashing lights and keep your lights dim at home. Do they typically tantrum when told to turn off the TV? If so, consider turning off the TV for them and putting the remote somewhere they cannot reach it. Or, limit TV until they are able to stay calm when it is turned off.
Remember that adjusting the environment is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
