Using rules for
Recognize the behavior:
Repeatedly calls your name and pulls on your arm while you are talking to an adult.
Identify what you want to see:
Staying quiet while you finish talking.
Use the Skill:
Set up a rule like, “The rule is to play quietly by yourself while I’m talking. If you follow the rule, I will play with you when we’re done. If you break the rule, you will need to play in a different room.”

Purpose:

Rules help children know what they have to do. They have clear positive and negative consequences. You can use rules about interrupting so you child knows what to do, and so you know what to do if they break the rule.
Remember that rules are most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
