Strategic attention lets your child know what you like. You can ignore specific behaviors while you praise other behaviors. Your child might whine while they do a task. Try to ignore whining and praise for any steps they take towards completing the task. Strategic attention can also be combined with modeling and redirect to help children get started on a task they don't want to do.
Remember that strategic attention is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
