Transitions help children move from one activity to the next. Some children don't like reading time. In this case, a timer would let them know how much longer they have to read. You can also help them focus by letting them know what will happen when you are done reading. Some children have a high activity temperament or a lot of energy. Reading breaks let these children use energy then return to reading.
Remember that transitions are most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
