Using transitions for
Recognize the behavior:
Repeatedly calls your name and pulls on your arm while you are talking to an adult.
Identify what you want to see:
Staying quiet while you finish talking.
Use the Skill:
Before starting your conversation, give a transition. For example, “I’m going to talk to my friend for five minutes, then I can talk with you.”

Purpose:

Transitions help children know what comes next. Let your child know what will happen after they have to do something they don't like. This will help them be patient. Afterwards, make sure to do whatever you said you would do!
Remember that transitions are most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
