Recognize what you want to see:

Use the skill:
Talk about how you deal with anxiety. For example, “I really hate spiders. I feel brave, but I also need to take a few deep breaths to calm down. Feel how fast my heart is beating!”

Purpose:
Modeling shows your child that you can be scared and brave at the same time. Model calming strategies and doing things that are scary. Tell your child when you feel worried and what you are doing to keep yourself safe and brave.
