Staying quiet while you finish talking.
Use the Skill:
You might use hand-over-hand with a redo by helping your child raise their hand. Then you could say, “Now that your hand is raised, tell me what you need.”

Hand-over-hand helps young children learn how to complete a task. Typically, hand-over-hand is less useful than other skills for interrupting or seeking attention, particularly in this situation.
Remember that hand-over-hand is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
