Constantly looking at other things when you are trying to read a story.
Identify what you want to see:
Focusing on the book.
Use the Skill:
Possible praise: “You’re doing a great job focusing on our book!”
Possible negative consequence: stop reading, or have less time to do something fun after reading is over.

Consistent consequences are only for effective commands. Try to use other skills before a command and consequence. Make sure your negative consequences make sense and that your expectations make sense for your child's age and ability level. If you are reading for fun, it does not make sense to have a negative consequences for looking at other things.
Remember that commands and consistent consequences should only be used when your other PC-CARE skills don't work.
