What does "Clinginess" mean?
- Seeking constant or frequent reassurance from a caregiver that you are safe.
In children aged 2-5 years
- Physically clinging or holding onto their caregiver
- Following their caregiver, including into the bathroom
- Holding onto a stuffed animal, blanket, or other comforting object or toy.
In children aged 6-10 years
- Wanting to know where their caregiver is at all times
- Being upset about any changes
- Not wanting to leave home
- Crying or whining for caregiver to stay with them before school, when caregiver leaves for work, or at bedtime
