Recognize the behavior:
Refuses to leave a friend’s house when it’s time to go home.
Identify what you want to see:
Saying goodbye and leaving the house.
Use the Skill:
You might give choices about how to leave. For example, “You have two choices: you can say goodbye at the door or at our car.”

Choices give children a sense of control in situations. Sometimes children have to do what you tell them to do. Notice if there are ways you could add choices to make it easier for your child to listen.
Remember that choices are most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
