Purpose:
-
Adjusting the environment makes it easier for children to do what they're supposed to do. Think about where you are. For some children, sitting next to you in a chair is the best way to focus their attention. Other children might focus better when they are able to fidget with something or walk around. Try to limit distractions, like TV, other toys, or the sounds of siblings playing, to keep your child focused. Also, pay attention to your child's cues. If they become more and more distracted, it might be time to take a break.
Remember that adjusting the environment is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
