Recognize the behavior:

Use the Skill:
Imagine your child is being careful. Reflect when they tell you what they are doing.

Purpose:

Reflecting lets your child feel heard and know they have your attention. In this situation, imagine your child drops the phone and says "I didn't mean to!" Reflect that. For example, "I know you didn't mean to." Then continue with other consequences. Reflecting will help your child feel heard and be less angry about the consequence.
Remember that reflections are most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
