Use the Skill:
Imagine your child says, “This is really hard.” Reflect your child before they tantrum. For example, “This is hard. I can help if you want.”

Purpose:

Remember only to reflect appropriate words. Reflecting screaming gives attention to the problem behavior. If the tantrum is already happening, wait until your child can use a calm voice. Then start reflecting their words. For example, the child says "I'm ready to talk now." Repeat back "You're ready now. So am I."
Remember that reflections are most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
