Try giving choices between two tasks. For example, “It’s time for chores. You can either take out the trash or put away the dishes today.”

Purpose:
Give your child choices for what they want to do or how they want to do it. Choices can improve their attitude about the task. It gives them some control, even in a situation they don't like.
