Consistent consequences are only for effective commands. Remember that children (and adults sometimes) have tantrums because they are not able to calm themselves in the moment or do not know how to respond to a difficult situation. Before you try rules, commands, and negative consequences, focus on teaching and modeling how to stay calm in difficult situations. If you give a command, make sure your negative consequences make sense.
Remember that commands and consistent consequences should only be used when your other PC-CARE skills don't work.
