Focus on something your child likes or model calming. Ignore any screaming until your child joins you.

Redirect helps your child focus on what you want them to do. Make sure to combine redirect with strategic attention in the middle of a tantrum. Some children tantrum when told no. In this case, you can try to immediately say "thank you for accepting no" after you give a "no" answer. Then, redirect your child to another fun activity.
Remember that redirect is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
