Using effective commands for
Recognize the behavior:

Carefully holding your phone.
Use the Skill:
Tell your child exactly how to be careful. For example, “Please use two hands to hold the phone.”

Effective commands tell your child that something needs to be done right now. They tell your child exactly what to do to succeed, which can be helpful when you child is being careless. But, other strategies, like descriptions, modeling, and redo, usually work better for carelessness. If you give a command, you should be ready to follow through with consistent consequences.
Remember that effective commands are most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
