You might need to take the phone away. Then focus on what they’re doing well. Wait to talk about the phone until you are both calm. Then talk about how to care for things.

Recovery helps you and your child stay calm and build a strong relationship. Remember that a phone is just a thing and that it is not a child's right to get to use your phone. It is more helpful to put the phone away and focus on what they do well than to focus on their carelessness.
Remember that recovery is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
