Recognize the behavior:
Throwing a loud tantrum.
Identify what you want to see:
Using strategies to calm down when upset.
Use the Skill:
You might have a lot of negative feelings during and after a tantrum. Once your child is calm, try your best to let go of those feelings and focus on doing something you both enjoy.
-
Purpose:
-
You obviously won't show enjoyment during a tantrum. Making difficult or boring tasks more fun can prevent tantrums. After a tantrum, find a way to enjoy your child. This is part of recovery. It will help you both feel better.
Remember that enjoyment is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
