Using imitation for
Recognize the behavior:
Repeatedly calls your name and pulls on your arm while you are talking to an adult.
Identify what you want to see:
Staying quiet while you finish talking.
Use the Skill:
If your child waits their turn to talk, imitate by waiting your turn to talk once they begin.

Purpose:

Imitation shows you notice your child's good behaviors. This makes your child want to keep doing what they're doing. In this situation, caregivers have to remember not to interrupt their child. You can even praise and imitate. For example, "Thank you for waiting patiently. Now I'll wait while you tell me what's up."
Remember that imitation is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
