Recognize the behavior:
Refuses to leave a friend’s house when it’s time to go home.
Identify what you want to see:
Saying goodbye and leaving the house
Use the Skill:
Let your child come up with a goodbye routine. For example, a fist bump or hug. You can do the routine too.

Purpose:

Imitation shows your child that you are willing to do what they want. This makes it easier for them to do what you want. If possible, let your child come up with a plan for doing something they don't want to do. Then imitate what they do.
Remember that imitation is most helpful when you also use the other PC-CARE skills.
